Fort Lauderdale Favourites

Hi all and welcome back to Tm-Dancer! Today I am thinking back to the 3 nights we spent in Fort Lauderdale while on our honeymoon back in August. We were staying in Fort Lauderdale as we were doing a Royal Caribbean cruise from that port and decided to stay a few nights beforehand to explore a new place.

  1. Hilton Hotel Fort Lauderdale

We stayed in the Hilton which was right on Fort Lauderdale beach. It is a massive resort with beautiful views over the ocean. Our room was amazing. We had a bathroom with a rain forest shower and a jacuzzi bath, a kitchen with kettle, fridge and a hob, 2 queen beds, a massive TV, and a balcony with 2 sun loungers, 2 chairs and a table on it.

The pool is on the 6th floor and has spectacular views of the ocean and some of the strip below. The pool is huge and there are 2 hot tubs. There was never a shortage of sun loungers even though the hotel caters for thousands of guests. There are complementary towels at the pool also.

As part of the resort fee each guest gets a free bottle of water each day. You just show your card at the shop on the ground floor to retrieve the bottles.

2. Bike Ride

As part of your resort fee in the Hilton you get access to bikes. We took advantage of this and hit the streets on our bikes and explored from Hugh Taylor Birch Park and then back down along Fort Lauderdale beach to find the sea turtle nests. There are bicycle lanes everywhere so it is safe to cycle around.

3. Sushi at Sun, Surf and Sand

Myself and my husband had never tried sushi before so one night in Fort Lauderdale we decided to hit up this beautiful restaurant. The sushi was divine, the waiter was so friendly and professional and the dessert was delicious. I highly recommend this experience of you are visiting Fort Lauderdale!

4. Ice cream at Yo Mama’s

This quaint little ice cream shop has some of the best ice cream I have ever had. Choose your flavours and then choose your toppings from a vast array of toppings. Then saviour the flavours!
